11. 2. Sharpness The sharpness of an image is adjusted by the focus range. The depth of field, or the area in the scene occupied by sharp objects on the image, can be increased if [FER 04]: – the diaphragm is relatively closed (high aperture number, around 9 or 11 depending on the camera; higher values can cause unfortunate diffraction effects); – the focal length is short; – the focusing distance is large. To achieve a large depth of field, limiting the risk that certain areas of the image are blurred and therefore unsuitable for photogrammetric processing, it is preferable to work with the diaphragm in the closed position.
